Hello!!

How are you doing in these lasts days of 2012?

Around here it's been busy, busy, but I can't really complain because it's all been due to very regarding matters ;-)

Before the end of the Year I wanted to share with you a very nice Guest post and interview that I did for my fellow blogger friend Tina and her Life in Sketch. If you want to know a little bit about how we celebrate the Season Holidays here in Madrid, as well as hear more about my goals and projects for 2013, go on and jump to read it here.

Royal Caballito, here we come

So here we are, finally back from holidays!!

Truth is, we have already been back in Madrid since the very end of August.

I have quite a lot of news to share with you, which I will spill little by little.

But first is first, and I can finally let you know about the name of my new brand: Royal Caballito !!

The past couple of weeks I have been fully devoted to organizing the first official photo-shoot for Royal Caballito spring 2013 campaign. I was really nervous and it turned out to be such an AMAZING experience! 

We are still editing all the pictures, but I can't wait to show you.  And more details will be coming very soon, I promise.

In the meanwhile, I thought I'd share a few pictures from our summer (in case you haven't been following at instagram. Aren't you totally addicted? ^_^)

Ya estamos aquí, finalmente de regreso de las vacas!!

En realidad, llevamos aquí ya desde finales de agosto, y tengo muchas noticias y novedades. Poquito a poco. 

Pero lo primer es lo primero, y por fin puedo anunciaros el nombre de mi nueva marca: Royal Caballito !!

¿Qué pensáis? ¿os gusta? :-)

Las dos últimas semanas he estado inmersa en la preparación de la primera sesión de fotos oficial de Royal Caballito para la campaña de primavera 2012. Estaba muy nerviosa (¡era mi primera vez! :P), pero ha sido realmente una experiencia INCREIBLE. Estamos todavía en fase de edición de las imágenes, pero tengo muchísimas ganas de poder enseñároslas. 

Mientras tanto, he pensado en compartir algunas fotos de nuestro verano (en caso de que no hayáis estado siguiéndome en instagram. ¿No sois adictos también? ^_^)

Summer in

Just one day left! And, finally, our holidays are about to start. It's been a long & productive year and I think we deserve a little bit of rest to be spent in a charming & quite little corner of the Mediterranean shore. If you wish to follow our adventures, I will for sure be updating my instagram with snapshots. Otherwise, see you back in September with LOTS of updates ;-)

Y finalmente... nuestras vacaciones comienzan ¡por fin! en tan solo un día. Ha sido un largo y productivo año, y creo que nos merecemos un poquito de descanso en un pequeño y tranquilo rincón del maravilloso mediterráneo. Si te apetece seguir algunas de nuestras aventuras veraniegas, seguro que iré actualizando mi instagram con fotos. Y si no, nos vemos aquí a la vuelta en septiembre con muchas novedades ;-)

Sometimes when...

 

... Sometimes when I have a million things on my to-do list of projects (-these days see me embarked in defining the graphic line of my clothing line-), I take a deep breath and allow myself some quiet time to go enjoy some of my very favorite photo-books.

What do you do in such occasions? Do you also have things/objects/places you always like to return to?

... A veces cuando mi lista de cosas-para-hacer aparece saturada de infinitas líneas (-en estos días, estoy embarcada en tratar de dejar definida la línea gráfica de mi futura marca de ropa-), decido tomar un respiro y regalarme un poco de tiempo para ir a mirar con tranquilidad algunos de mis libros de fotografía favoritos.

Y vosotros, ¿qué soléis hacer en estas ocasiones? ¿Tenéis también objetos/cosas/lugares que siempre os guste revisitar?

6 Months at El Estudio of La Casita de Wendy

In order to equilibrate the little I have told you here about what have been the last 6 months spent at El Estudio by La Casita de Wendy, I have prepared for you a very visual post to best transmit the incredible experience & adventure it has been. For those of you who don't know, El Estudio workshop is a fashion design master organized by the very cool designers of La Casita de Wendy. It focuses on learning how to make a garment collection and give an in-depth vision of the multi-faceted fashion world. The Master pays special attention to the various printing processes and the creation of your own textiles designs, as well as transmitting the particular philosophy behind La Casita de Wendy: maximum support to slow fashion, handmade, DIY, local production and being environmentally friendly during the different stages of the production process of garments (you may read La Casita de Wendy's "Manifiesto" here, which I fully support). These elements were highly appreciated by me and key in my decision to take this course. As you will have the occasion to read & see in the very coming future, my approach to the fashion industry -and to the role that creators and owners of clothing brands have and should play-, is based in very similar core fundaments than those taught by my teachers.

Fashion... can have values and a conscience and not be boring!!

Para intentar equilibrar lo poquito que he contado aquí de lo que han sido los últimos 6 meses en El Estudio de La Casita de Wendy, he preparado un post de lo más visual que os pueda transmitir algo de la increíble experiencia que ha sido. Para los que no lo sabéis, el curso semestral de El Estudio es un máster organizado por los diseñadores de La Casita de Wendy enfocado en enseñar cómo se realiza una colección de ropa y dar conocer en profundidad la multitud de vertientes del mundo de la moda. En el curso, se le daba un marcado interés a enseñar todo lo relacionado con la estampación y el diseño textil y a transmitirnos la particular filosofía de La Casita: de apoyo máximo al slow fashion, al handmade, al diy, a la producción local y al medioambiente (puedes leer aquí su "manifiesto", con el que me identifico plenamente). Estos elementos eran esenciales en mi decisión de hacer este curso, y en lo que, como iréis teniendo ocasión de ver, se basa también mi concepción del mundo y la industria de la moda, de la creación y del rol que en él podemos/debemos jugar los diseñadores y dueños de marcas. 

La moda... ¡¡puede tener valores y conciencia sin ser aburrida!!

A partir de septiembre, comenzaré a enseñaros los resultados de mi trabajo: ...¡¡Se trata de mi propia colección de ropa y diseños!! Pero vais a necesitar un pelín más de paciencia! jeje ;-)

Lana Connection: A Crochet Star Is Born!

Hace unas semanas os hablaba de las quedadas ganchilleras que últimamente se estaban organizando en Madrid. Los encuentros se iniciaron el pasado septiembre, y lo que comenzó siendo un grupo muy pequeñito de personas, se ha expandido vertiginosamente en todas las direcciones. ¡Yo estoy maravillosamente alucinada! Para empezar, el grupo ha tomado el nombre de Lana Connection. Se ha creado un blog del colectivo que podéis encontrar aquí, ha nacido un grupo de facebook con una actividad incesante y, a día de hoy, pero creciendo  constantemente, ya cuenta con 117 miembros. Twitter no podía faltar, y la cuenta es ésta. Las quedadas ganchilleras siguen celebrándose al menos una vez al mes mes, pero la actividad se ha ampliado a la realización de acciones ganchilleras, de las que podéis encontrar constancia gráfica aquí, aquí, o aquí.

What only a few months ago was a real rarity in Madrid is happily starting to become a part of the landscape of the city. What started back in September as a monthly gathering, has rapidly grown into a larger organization called Lana Connection, with a vivid spirit to (non-stop) materialize crochet actions around Madrid. You can see a few examples here, here or here.

¿¿No es una auténtica chulada?? Yo desde luego, nunca había visto el Reina Sofía tan bonitamente adornado. Esta chica es una auténtica joya.
